Caitlin had her karate championships on Sunday. The whole family went, as we had offered to help out. But we needn't have bothered, they didn't need us (but had failed to let us know). Jemima behaved herself quite well, considering we were there by 9.15am and Caitlin didn't do her round until just before 2pm.
It was interesting watching some of the matches. The katas (routines) were boring ... apart from the brown belt who was doing little pelvic thrusts in his - I was expecting some Michael Jackson music to start any minute. "Billy Jean's not my lover........"
The little kiddies doing kumites (fights) were very cute. I could just see Jemima doing karate (god forbid!)
Caitlin's friends had some good matches. Caitlin was only on the floor for 2 minutes before losing her match so some little bint who kept attacking (apparently you are not supposed to be constantly on the attack).
But Caitlin's loss was avenged by her teammate Casey. Casey had won another round before having to go straight into kumite with Bopping Bint. You could tell Casey was exhausted and in pain. Bopping Bint kept attacking and managed to hit Casey in the head at least three times, without being penalised. The look on Casey's face seemed to say "will you just F#$@ off!" and she did a perfect sidekick into Bopping Bint's stomach, and felled her. Bopping Bint was crying and clutching her stomach and putting on a grand performance. After the doctor checked her out, she got up and started bopping straight away so obviously wasn't hurt seriously. Casey was in pain from a cracked rib but she still managed to win, using less energy than Bopping Bint.
