Mim has been coughing a bit every morning, as well as having a runny nose. The ladies at daycare said that was common over winter months, that many of the kids down there had runny noses constantly, so we didn't think too much of it.
Thursday morning, the poor dear woke up with gunky eyes. We thought it was conjunctivitis so I arranged for her to see the lovely doctor at my work. After all, what's driving an hour each way when you know the doctor is a good one!
Michael rang before we left, he'd left his wallet at home and could I drop it in on the way past. No problem. Raced it inside the school for him and ran down the stairs. Well, ran down about three steps before my ankle gave out and I fell down the remainder. Luckily I hadn't broken anything, although I had to sit there for a few minutes before I could get up and hobble to the car. Both ankles were killing me, thank goodness the car is an automatic.
The doctor gave us good news, it wasn't conjunctivitis, it was just a viral thing related to her cold. She's got antibiotics and a decongestant to take. I think I've been given a dud though. The decongestant has a warning "causes drowsiness". Do you think I can get Mim to take a sleep though!!!!!!!!!
On the way home, Mim wanted to call in and see Wazza and Jenny. I refused, "you don't want to make them sick as well do you?" Big mistake. From the back I could hear sobs, so looked around. She had tears pouring down her face, snot dribbling from her nose and was saying "I was just joking you mummy, I'm not sick, I was just (cough, cough, cough) joking!!! I wanna visit Wazza and Jennnnnnnnyyyyyyyyyy". Naturally enough, I wasn't convinced that she was just joking!
So whilst Mim coughs and splutters and blows her runny nose in front of the TV, I hobble around the house looking after her.
