Our First Egg

Phoebe laid her first egg today, we are all very excited by it (because it's about bloody time!!)

Did she lay it in the magnificent chook house built for her...... No.

Did she lay it in the garden that she has been scratching around in and leaving holes everywhere...... No.

She laid it in the woodpile!!!


I figured something was up today, she was unusually hungry and friendly, coming into the house twice to raid Gomez's food. And for the past two days, she has allowed Jemima to pat her and pick her up (nobody else has been able to). Then, this morning, she kept jumping into the woodpile and after an hour of scratching around in there, she started clucking proudly - I figured what had happened. It's only a small egg, but hopefully she'll lay regularly now!
