The kitchen is finished at long last. We have new cupboards, new splashback, new appliances, new window/door, new floor and even some new saucepans.
The last few months haven't been without drama - firstly the Stegbar window didn't arrive on time from Sydney. It took a number of angry phonecalls from me to the Gold Coast branch to have it delivered on the Tuesday night, so Rhett could install it on Wednesday, when the new kitchen cupboards were being installed on Thursday. Then we had to wait 8 weeks to get the new fridge. The new tap was leaking and had to be fixed ... but the only plumber used by Ramtaps was on holidays for a week. Luckily that has now been fixed.
So, here's the transformation. From this:

Notice the difference when the rangehood lights are put on!
A big thank you to the following people for helping us acheive this look: Rhett Carter and Ned (and Brush - who supervised the whole affair, as well as bailed Gomez up); Ron Biles and his fantastic paintbrush; Michael the gasfitter from Dayboro; John Cunningham and Frank Zappala and the team at House of Kitchens, and me! Yes, me! The one who did the organising and waiting for tradespeople to arrive, stripping and painting the floor, painting the walls and architraves and a million and one other things (see previous blog). Michael - you get to do all the organisation when we finally get the bathroom redone!

looks FANTASTIC - hey I went to school with the Zappala boys - wonder if they are related to Frank!!
Chris and DAvid? They are Jack's sons, and Frank's nephews. My grandparents worked with Jack at Haymans, then when Jack started up Ideal electrical, Mum worked for them. Chris went out with Tanya Martin for a while. Chris is now a doctor over in London and David has his own horticultural business. Jack's latest project has been to do over the old Coro on Coronation Drive, it's now living apartments.
wow how cool is that.... I went to primary school with them.... Dave went to high school with them. It's a small bloody world isn't it?
Six degrees of separation! (or less in the case of a "country town" like Brisbane).
The kitchen looks absolutely superb!
I went to school with Chris and David too. I also went to high school with Kylie Zappala. I wonder if she is related to Frank?
